Founded in 2011, The Wanenheim Direct Democracy Party (Wanenheim Direkt Demokratie Partei) cites inspiration from both the Swiss Democratic System and the Direct Democracy Ireland Party. The party describes itself as neither "left or right, but about balance", seeking to transform the political system from Representative Democracy to Direct Democracy, similar to the political model of Switzerland. The party has three principal aims:
- To allow Citizens to petition for a Referendum on any Issue through the collection of a certain number of Signatures.
- To allow for the Recall of Politicians that fail their Mandate.
- To create realistic Economic Policies based on Public Debate and Participatory Budgeting.
Recently the WDDP has gained 15 out of 50 seats in the local elections and that members have cited as "Our biggest victory so far". As of now, the Party is said to be looking to make an entry into the National Elections.
